Wisconsin plate format rules

- Letters A–Z and numbers 0–9 only.

- Plates containing “O”.
Letters and numbers only — no symbols, punctuation or spaces — and the letter O is always treated as numeral 0. All letters are issued uppercase. The character maximum varies from 1 to 7 by plate type per Wisconsin's own guidance document.
