What Vermont lets you spell on a plate, and how to check availability yourself.

Plate Gator can't check Vermont availability automatically

Vermont's plate checker is gated by reCAPTCHA. Plate Gator does not use CAPTCHA solvers, so this state must be checked by hand.

So the only way to know for sure is to ask Vermont directly — the preview above still works, but Plate Gator will not run a live check for Vermont.

Vermont plate format rules

Length
1–7 characters.
Allowed characters
Letters A–Z and numbers 0–9 only.
Digits
At most 2 digits.

No more than two numbers may be combined with letters, and the combined total may not exceed 7 (motorcycle and small trailer 6, disabled 5, antique and exhibit 4). The letter O is treated as numeral 0 and no dots, dashes or other symbols are allowed. A single-letter plate is acceptable but may not be I, J or O — a restriction that applies only at length 1 and so cannot be encoded here. From official form VD-017.
