New York plate format rules

- 2–8 characters.
- Allowed characters
- Letters A–Z and numbers 0–9 only.
Two to eight characters (motorcycle and picture plates 6). A single letter, six numbers followed by one letter, and the reserved ABC123 and 123ABC patterns are all unavailable, as are certain O-between-numbers and 1/I look-alike constructions. The state image, entered as '@' online, may be used as one character but may not be first or last.
