Delaware issues no new vanity plates: a May 2024 court ruling ended the program, so there is nothing to check.

Delaware plate format rules

- 1–7 characters.
- Allowed characters
- Letters A–Z, numbers 0–9, and “-”.
21 Del. C. 2121 caps autos at 7 characters and motorcycles at 5; a hyphen is permitted and counts as one character. Numerals, where used, must appear to the right of all letters, and the Department may refuse 7-character combinations that leave inadequate spacing. Secondary sources claim an ampersand is also allowed, but the statute text does not confirm it.
