Plate Gator can't check Colorado availability automatically
Colorado offers plate availability only inside the myDMV account portal, so this state must be checked by hand.
So the only way to know for sure is to ask Colorado directly — the preview above still works, but Plate Gator will not run a live check for Colorado.
Colorado plate format rules
- Length
- 2–7 characters.
- Allowed characters
- Letters A–Z, numbers 0–9, and spaces, “-”, “.”.
Standard auto max is 7 (motorcycle 6), though some personalized configurations are limited to 5 characters, which may include blank spaces, dashes and periods. Other symbols (!, #, $, %, *) are disallowed and zeros are generally unavailable except on Call Letter or remanufactured plates.
