Alaska personalized & vanity plates
What Alaska lets you spell on a plate, and how to check availability yourself.
Plate Gator can't check Alaska availability automatically
Alaska's plate flow requires identity verification (license number, SSN and date of birth) before any availability answer, so this state must be checked by hand.
So the only way to know for sure is to ask Alaska directly — the preview above still works, but Plate Gator will not run a live check for Alaska.
Alaska plate format rules
- Length
- 2–6 characters.
- Allowed characters
- Letters A–Z, numbers 0–9, and spaces.
Letters and numbers only — no symbols such as -, #, % or & — with a blank space left where a space is wanted, which counts as a character. 2 AAC 92.120 refuses combinations demeaning to a group or referencing vulgarity, violence or crime.
